On March 8, 2025, Amy posted on Instagram from Brazil. It is the most emotionally significant post on her account.
What She Said
She said she feels really proud of who she's become since summer 2023. That she had felt stuck for a while, for a lot of different reasons. That she decided to take back her life. She explicitly says: if something is holding you back, let it go. No sunk cost fallacy. No regrets.

When This Was
March 8, 2025. Amy was still at Taya. She would not leave for another eight months. She was traveling with Maddie Wang.
"Stuck for a while for a lot of different reasons" could describe the Taya situation, but Amy does not name it. "Decided to take back my life" could be about leaving Elena, but she had not left yet. This post reads like someone narrating herself out of a bad chapter, using the present tense of a vacation to write the thesis statement of a future decision.
The "no sunk cost fallacy" line is pointed. Amy had two years, 13% equity, her dad's $40,000, and her entire professional identity invested in Taya. The sunk cost was enormous. She was telling herself, publicly, that none of that was a reason to stay.
"Since Summer 2023"
She dates the pride to summer 2023. That was the period when she had the Apple return offer and the Bilio offer, turned both down, and committed fully to what would become Taya. If she is proud of "who she's become since summer 2023," she is proud of the version of herself that chose the hard path. The irony is that the hard path is also the thing she is telling herself to let go of.
Maddie
The post ends with "i love maddie <3." Maddie Wang is with her in Brazil. Not Elena, not a co-founder, not anyone from the startup world. The person Amy chooses to travel to the other hemisphere with is her friend, not her business partner.
Connection to the Diary
Exactly one year later, on March 8, 2026, Amy wrote her first diary entry and asked to be "roasted." She wrote: "The grind isn't ambition. It's a compulsion." She wrote: "If Taya didn't fill that hole, nothing will."
The Rio Post is the public, optimistic version. The diary is the private, honest version. Both were written on March 8, one year apart. The Rio Post says she took back her life. The diary asks what she did with it.
