Matthew

People

Matthew is a hardware/PCB contractor who did the electrical design for Taya's necklace pendant. He runs Paisley Micro (paisleymicro.com) for consulting and co-founded kitsufab.com. Phone: +1 (919) 909-8638 (North Carolina).

Taya Contract

Matthew was referred by "Larry," an engineer who had background on the Taya pendant hardware. He designed a custom donut-shaped PCB with an nRF controller, SD card, and buttons. Contract was $1,725 ($1,200 + $250 + $275). He designed BOM, ECOs for manufacturability, and ordered from JLCPCB. Very competent EE.

He also did Intel CPU motherboard design. His day job is long-term hardware contracting for sorcerer.ai/sorcerer.earth.

The Person

Matthew is young (approximately 20-22), Chinese-American, technically skilled, and socially quirky. He lives alone in the Bay Area ("just a room"), has a best friend/roommate in Seattle. He attended a small private high school in NC suburbs (class of about 100). Childhood in Atlanta, then North Carolina.

He catfished his roommate for half a year before they became best friends. He posted about anime character Yae Miko on X, which got him a job.

He plays piano (knows Merry-Go-Round of Life), likes Chinese games. He's somewhat lonely, relies on online communities. He expressed feeling stuck: "ppl like me we aren't intrinsically valued." He wants to let his parents live luxuriously. He compared himself to lifestyle accounts.

After Taya

In November-December 2025, Matthew tried to sell Amy a Bambu Lab 3D printer ($250-350). In 2026, they discussed consumer/social SaaS app ideas. He expressed uncertainty about whether engineering is really his path. Amy invited him to the SF Chinatown flower market. They share a Discord group.

He apologized for "unprofessional comments" during the contract — he'd forgotten to eat.

Significance

3,641 messages. September 2025 to March 2026. Matthew is the person who actually built the hardware that Elena Wagenmans is now raising $5M on. The $1,725 contractor who designed the PCB that became the product.
